The mission of the Asante Association is to engage in charitable, educational and public welfare activities to benefit the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole. To promote social, moral and educational welfare of its members. To develop linkages and networking with other Ghanaian and African ethnic groups in participating in intercultural programs.


The Asante Association of Washington Metropolitan Area is dedicated to empowering its members with social, moral, educational and cultural enrichment, thus enabling all Asantes to reach their full potential to support and enhance the lives of each other, and to assist in the development of Asanteman.




  1. Unite all Asantes in Washington Metropolitan Area;

  2. Promote a social, moral, educational and the general welfare of its members;

  3. Provide a source of cultural enrichment, and promote interest, inform and educate the general community about Asante culture;

  4. Provide social networking and support for the members;

  5. Organize periodic workshops to educate members on pertinent issues such as Asante culture and traditions, legal & immigration issues, health, employment, life and health insurance, and investments.

  6. Assist the needy financially and in kind.

  7. Project good image of Asantes in the Washington Metro Area;

  8. Support Asanteman development efforts by motivating and educating members financially to support educational, health and other social programs in Asanteman;

  9. Develop linkages to and networking with other African ethnic groups and participating in inter-cultural exchange programs.

  10. Contribute to the development of the Washington Metro area community by performing voluntary services.
